Thanks for clarifying for me rgun. I had read that same exact article some time ago and that's what swayed me away from ground probes so yes I do agree.

Let's just say your voltage is extremely high in the tank due to a piece of equipment leaking, you're basically covering up the problem using a ground probe. Unbeknownst to you, there is a high amount of stray voltage in your tank and you one day decide to clean the ground probe. With the probe out of the water, and one hand in the tank, you'll feel a nice shock. It's just my opinion, I'd rather fix the problem itself by removing the piece of equipment rather than covering up the problem.

You guys have a lot to say but you are NOT listening to the poster.

He has CLEARLY stated that he has tested each device ONE by ONE folks. He says that as he plugs in one device at a time - the volts go up by one or two points.

I believe you have an overall grounding problem in your home. Get it check out by a licensed electrician.

I agree. It would be best to isolate the problem and remove the device, but I can't find one device that is causing the problem. I feel confident saying I would find stray voltage in anyone’s tank that doesn't have a ground. As long as they are using electrical devices that are submerged. Maybe not enough to shock you... but something

charlie1225 - I also agree. Someone could get hurt when they pull out the grounding probe if a device has malfunctioned. All tanks are required by law to be plugged into a GFI. If you can do it, closed loop with all external pumps is the way to go. for heat and for safty...
