Shrimp & Heart Attack

Can it be? I purchased 2 cleaner shrimps this morning. They were fine in their home, swimming looking healthy.
They were bagged in double baggies and went directly into my little cooler. I came directly home so they may have been in my car around 45 min.
As soon as I got home I took the baggie out of the cooler and I couldn't believe my eyes. One of the shrimps was laying belly up, legs straight up stiff as a board. I still couldn't believe it and thought perhaps it is playing possum so I placed it in to the tank.

Not playing possum it is in fact dead dead dead dead.

So I'm thinking it had a heart attack. Am I crazy to even think this? Possibly LOL

Anyone else have any ideas what may have happened.

seen a fish have a heart attach when it was being bagged, watched it swim in tank and poof it was netted and poof it died dropping into the bag

Regal, they were in a ziploc baggie not sure that it had been used for anything before. But I believe the other member to be a responsible MR member that knows better.

This happened to me when I was about to purchase a six-line from a fellow MR member.

K, that was not meant as any way shape or form to insinuate that you used a contaminated baggie. On the contrary!!!!!! I said I believed you to be a responsible member!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The part of "knows better" was meant as a compliment....
And there is no reason for you to feel bad! I saw the shrimps swimming fine in your tank.

I stated from the on set of this thread that I felt the shrimp had a heart attack..... And was simply sharing my experience with no malice intended. Your name had never been mentioned, nor did anyone ask who I got the shrimp from as no one thought you to be responsible for the death of the shrimp.

I'm very sorry that you took offense to my thread..

You do not owe me anything, except the chance to see the upstairs tank.

shrimp tend to freak out when they cant hold on to something

I just wanted to let you know how bad I feel about the shrimp dying before it reached your tank and being part responsible for it.

I even joked about it drowning...anyways we all good. :biggrin:

Good, glad that I was the one mistaken..

yourbedormine, no there wasn't a rubberband. Then I have bought other shrimps and never has there been rubberbands placed in the bags with them.

Sorry about the loss Awilda. That was kinda cute though. Maybe a necropsy to find out cause of death?
