no amount of protective gear will save your skin if you wreck, watched years ago when riding in a pack a buddy drop a bike doin 70 mph with full leathers on helmet ect, he slide a half mile and ended up losing half his arm and half his left from the pavement eating through the leathers and his leg and arm
I cant speak for your freind and i hate to hear that...but todays gear is insane.....I can only say that the protective gear today has many redundent safety measures (leather/kevlar seams/sliding pucks/spine suspension, )....2 years ago I was drag racing at atco and needless to say lost control at 104 mph....I walked away only with a broken arm and road rash on my palm becouse my glove wore thru....the rest of my body was saved by my leathers/kevlar and sliders.....so please dont discount the proper gear....there are many grades of leather out there...make sure they are 1.2 mm and above...preferably 1.4mm and i advise gp protectors...they saved my bodyparts.....:splitspin..yes i got lucky...but luck has nothing to do with the proper gear..it can and will save lives and body parts when used corectly
