I've had season tickets for the yankees since I retired starting in 04 with a half season plan for 2 years than a 12 game flex plan and didnt get them last year. I got real pissed when the best seats I could get for the playoffs were the last row last to seats in the mezzanine in left field ( regular seats were 4 rows back in right field!)

when my ticket agent called to see why I hadnt renewed I asked her why the those were the best seats I could get as a license holder 2 days before they went on sale to the public, and what did they offer the general public they couldnty offer me? she had no answer than she blamed ticket master.

mind u I was online and got into ticket master 3 secs after the start of the sale.

now the emails and the calls havent stopped for the first time in 36 years infield partial ticket plans at field level are available...
at $350 a seat!

I am a die hard Yankee fan, even had the privilege to work in front of dugout a few times ( paid OT detail as a cop)and would love to pull the trigger but it would cost me 28K for me and my family:irked:

they are out of control with prices and it's not only the yankees!
Giants and jets are ridiculous with the licensing fee:bablefish

my family just paid the giants seat licenses. 5k per seat for corner endzone and 1k for 3rd tier..

These prices will backfire on all these teams and people just won't show up anymore.. it's sick when the Yankees sign 400mil in new contracts then bed the state/city for more money..

The end has to come to these outrageous ticket prices.. starts with the fans not going.. but that won't happen anytime soon.

I agree it is sad! when I go to game me, wife and 2 sons it's easy 100.00 in food on top of tickets

thank God for HD TV
instead of seats last season bought a 52" Sony bravia for the family room
I literally watch 140+ games now:givebeer:

Big Screen TV 's are nice especially HD but I grew up going to the stadium
nothing replaces that!

soon being at home will be better when the average fan can't afford it and people go for a social even and show up late and leave early. There are already people that leave Giant games mid way in the 3rd quarter.

because leaving Giants stadium is a nightmare traffic wise
I've been to Yankee stadium for hundreds of games fans there are fans unless it's a blow out either way the stadium is full to the end.

point of my thread that it IS getting too expensive to go to the games

leaving isn't that bad.. my dad comes from Syracuse and my aunt/uncle come from Rochester and we generally stay to the end unless they are getting killed

They ran a Psl special on real sports in august..... and there was a man (millionaire) that stated he could no longer afford his old seats this year and what's worse is that the way it is scheduled the price will rise higher for the 2011 season. I want to see a game in the New stadium but after that I can't see myself ever going to another game unless it's reasonable.

Frank, this year is a bust. First game at the stadium will be a sellout. Games against Boston and the team from Queens will possibly sell out. Other than those games, I think we're going to see empty seats......possibly between the bases!!!!! That's unheard of.

There is no way Yankee mgmt can lower prices now that they've sold tickets already (can't refund those who have purchased already). If the economy continues the way it is, and there are unsold seats this year, I think next year we could see prices come down. I'm not going to make a prediction how much they'd come down, but I do think they have to fill the stadium. The overhead basically stays the same if the stadium is full or empty. However, they lose sales for all the 'extras' when there are empty seats.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're at a game this year in upper deck seats, and there are empty seats between the bases and they offer to move people down to those seats, just for the television cameras. Nobody wants to see the empty seats down low. It could be expected and accepted in the outfield upper decks, but not between 1st and 3rd.
