Electric Backup

Not sure how many people have an UPS for backup power, with the summer coming, brown outs are sure to come. I saw a good deal for a UPS for those who are in the market for one.
Seems like every year there's some unfortunate person who loses thousands of $'s worth of livestock because of power outages. Better to be safe then sorry.

This is the reason why I invested in my oxydator.. Benefits of ozone, 100% oxygen as long as the reactor has fluid.. How long can a battery really last if it really comes down to it??

Since you steered this thread off topic I thought I might add something. Ozone is harmful but hydrogen peroxide is even more harmful. Under light or heat hydrogen peroxide breaks down into free radicals. Free radicals are highly unstable and will readily react with anything. This is because when they split apart they split homogeneously taking only one of the electron from the bond broken.


Back on topic, I have a 1250VA backup battery myself. The only thing I have connected to it is the return pump.

So there is a down side??? Will my tank spontaneously combust??,, lol.. Will a stronger solution, like the 6% solution I use be more unstable?? Should I test your conclusion in stable enviroment ,like say a lab???OMG,,lmao..

Actually, both Ozone and H2O2 break down into free radicals. That's what you -want-. Free radicals -- that free O atom that's released when O3 or H2O2 decide to revert to a stable state, either O2 or H2O -- break down organic materials and are highly toxic to unicellular organisms because of it. Thus, they're great for cleaning and sterilization. Either way, the same chemical reactions are going on, basically.

However, ozone is much easier to meter and control with an ORP controller, can be produced from the atmosphere by convenient generators -- so you don't deal with batches of H2O2 of unknown providence and strength, no matter what it says on the bottle -- and you're less likely to have some kinda accident where your tank gets overdosed -- something which is infinitely more possible with H2O2. (Sure, not if properly used -- but that's why it's called an accident. )

I actually have a UPS and a 1kw honda generator. Majority of the time, brown outs tend to be a few minutes, and get restored so my UPS comes in handy. I don't feel like starting up the generator if it only lasts a few minutes or less.

The reason why I choose a honda generator is because in the unlikely event the outage lasts significantly longer, it is more efficient on the gas, and when power is out, gas comes in short supply since gas stations require electric to pump. I would run everything but the lights

if there is a power outage is the battery backup on the vortech mp 40 good enough?
i run a 40 breeder with 30 gallon sump.
i want to protect myself but trying to decided if i should purchase the vortech battery back up ..or apc or both units
