After meeting so many people from MR over this past week and it turns out they love fishing as much as i do i decided to start this thread to see who fishes where. It would also be nice to get some MR member fishing trips on the beach or out on the boat or somewhere this summer. So where are all the fishermen and what kind of fishing do you do? If your interested in meeting up with fellow fishermen (catch a open boat, private boat, on the beach or dock, ect ect ect). Just state what you would like to do.

Me i'm a all around fisherman. I do it all from freshwater to 300 miles off shore and everything in between. I spend most of my time fishing at Sore Thumb or Demo and on the fishing boats out of captree, Port Jeff, or Huntington. I am always up for any kind of fishing. Just hit me up and if im free i will join you.

Man, forget squid and spearing, you should hear my fluke call "here flukey flukey flukey" they jump right on my hook!

Also a big fan of stripers, even blues.

Love to see these fishing threads every now and then

I love to fish any opportunity I can ( which isnt much these days ). As I dont have my own boat, I'm not picky about the setting - party boat, dock, surf. I have plenty of room for improvement and am always looking for someone to wet a line with and perhaps learn something from. As for the fish, I enjoy catching anything I can eat - freshwater or saltwater - and only keep what will get eaten. Not into trophies.

I love going out camping in state parks and fish the freshwater. I also go out on part boats out of the Atlantic Highlands in Jersey when I do have time. Flounder season just started in the last couple weeks. Might start up fishing again soon.:tongue1:

Although I live in Queens, I do most of my fishing out on the North Fork of Long Island. I have a summer place in Cutchogue, and most of my fishing is from the shore along East Creek, where it meets Peconic bay. Haven't had luck this year, but hopefully that will change. While I get mostly small blues and schoolie bass, large blues and keeper bass pass through in May and sometimes October. Summer brings (usually, not always) lots of cocktail blues and sometimes weakfish. also hit the Sound...my favorite spot is McCabes Beach...open access to deep water..great for blues in spring and fall...

I am thinking about heading to sore thumb Thursday after work (5ish) depending on the weather. Anyone wanna come or going to be there? Some nice stripers coming out of that area right now.

Why do you drive all the way out to Jersey if you're in Brooklyn? Is the fishing or the party boats that much better?
Im usually in Jersey for the weekends in the summer.

Plus, the fishing is easier for some fish since the limits on keepers are lower in Jersey than in NY. But I wouldnt be fishing there if I wasnt there to begin with... its a 2 hr drive to PT Pleasant from Bklyn lol.

Just spent the day out on the water.. went on Super Speedy Express out of Captree for a full day 7a-4p for SeaBass this past Saturday. Talk about a ton of fish brought on board. Cod, Seabass, Porgy, Flatties, Ling.. someone even reeled up a Lobster, but she went back eggs and all. It was a great trip!

Would be cool to set up an MR trip. Who's up for organizing such a thing? I know I don't have the gumption to do so.. but I'd be more than happy to attend :)

We made a promise to the little man that we'll do at least one boat trip a month, with plenty of as usual dock fishing. He adores it, which is awesome because it's a family affair around here when it comes to fish and reefkeeping. :inlove:

I forgot to mention that i do all my fishing from shore. Occasionally I'll take a party boat for bass while I'm in the city....used to really like The Angler..haven't tried it yet since it moved to Port Washington. Every few years my son and I charter a boat out of Orient for bass in the Race...incredible fishing...start out first for porgies, then liveline the porgies for bass., switching to eels after dark. Last time I got 3 bass...smallest was 20 lbs....never any shorts.
