Hi, so I bought a tank from someone on this forum and now i need help with the plumbing. I was told that the tank was drilled with a 1" and a 1 3/4" hole.

My first question is what size bulkhead will fit in the 1" hole? I saw that there are 3/8" schedule 80 bulkheads that fit 1" holes but then I do not see a bushing from the 3/8" to one of the larger sized pipes.

Also, do people think its better to use both holes as drains and do a return pipe over the top as precaution for floods?

Measure the hole yourself first you need a 1 inch bulkhead and a 1 3/4 bulkhead with 2 rubber seals on each. One go on the inside of the glass and other goes on outside.I don't know if you have space for a overflow box but i think it's a good idea.

If you need any guidance, feel free to give us a shout.

FYI, there is only one gasket for a bulkhead, not two. I don't want you to go on a wild goose chase. They are only sold with one as well ;) Sorry Dre (don't mean to dis you :grouphug: )

You should contact the person you purchase the tank from and maybe ask him/her if they still have the bulkheads they used.

Also I purchased an overflow and 2 return kits from glasshole and it only came with 1 rubber washer each.

One gasket for each bulkhead is sufficient, it's preferably to be place on the inside of the tank. If you live in Bergen County, go to Reef Encounter on Hudson Street, Hackensack. They have bulkheads of different sizes for about $10 each.
