Wondering if anybody has had bad experience with tank and sound pressure.
I am running 4 HGS-18 subs in the same room with two tanks.
Sound pressure can get up to about 106db@20HZ and abou 140db@35-45HZ maybe more during exterme action movies.
Does anyone think this will be a problem, im not so much worried about high frequencies, Just worried about room shaking low freq.
My aquascaping will be secure and not fall against glass. But the seams in the tank may be the spot to worry about.

ANY THOUGHTS?

I've read somewhere on the internet that an intersting phenomen is that the glass of the tank insulates its inhibitants from whatever is going on on the outside. So doesn't matter what you bang and how loud - it is all quet under the water.
Now, direct application of noise to the tank (hammering on the stand or knuckling on the glass - that transfers the mechanical waives right through the water and puts a lot of stress on the inhibitants.

I don't think your HTS is as loud as a reef. The reef is not a quiet place i think you should buy your fish natural wave sounds LOL.

Ok...well I have to say that indeed your fish will feel a 20hz-45hz frequency....@ 106-140 + db. That is wicked.... I have used (sound traps, absorption barriers...I actually had sound deadoning material(dynomat) under an old tank and it worked somewhat. At the end of the day my fish were fine its my ears that got killed !!!!....lol..Anything over 100hz(true mids/tweets) will be bouncing off the glass.....:splitspin...

Naw. It insulates from high frequency noise, but a nice long glass panel is a perfect receiver for bass.

I'd say that so long as you aren't running 24 HOUR ACTION ALL THE TIME then you should be OK -- might notice polyp retraction or other signs of unhappiness after particularly loud sequences. Cover the tank, though, in case your fish are spooky. Just use some sense about it and observe your tank's inhabitants' reactions.
