Aiptasia is growing out of control in one of my tanks, where can I get some berghia nudibranch.

Just get a bristletail filefish. It will take care of the problem and IME not harm anything else. I've had one in my main system for months without issue. Dom gets them regularly.

Thank you very much. However, it's in a reef system with total water volume over 700 gallons.

ime, berghia's don't touch the big aiptasia just the smaller/younger one's. whereas my copperband butterfly took care of all my aiptasia....haven't had one in over 2 yrs.
had a bristletail that ate all the majano's in my office's tank but didn't touch the aiptasia.
copperband gets my vote.:biggrin:

Hey Randy, does your bristletail filefish go after any softies? One of the fish I lost was a large Copperband that LOVED aptasia. But he also loved Zoas and wiped out the few I had collected in Puerto Rico.

I may have to pick one up. Hopefully he also enjoys eating hydroids. (Although my hydroid problem is not as bad as it once was, I find that they do not grow on surfaces covered in coraline algae well and my coraline has had plenty of calcium to use because of less SPS' growing.

I have not noticed the filefish damaging anything other than aiptasia, but I don't have many softies with it and my system is large. In fact, I've never really seen it touch an aiptasia either, but about 3-4 weeks after introduction, the aiptasia began to disappear rapidly. So far, SPS, LPS, clams, Xenia and anemones have been untouched.

note to all...file fish in general can be a very delicate species, and can be difficult to keep...yes they may last for months and take care of your infestation...but then they starve and die in your tank...and we as a group should not be ok with that...IMHO

A valid concern for many filefish species, but the bristletail file is a hardy and undemanding species that generally eats frozen mysis etc. readily.
