Has anyone used these? I'm thinking of using an 1100 as a return pump for my upcoming project. (45 gallon cube, 24 x 24 x 18).

Budget is a huge concern here, so I'd rather use this pump than an Eheim (which I've used before, and liked, but they cost $100).

For clarification, here's the link:

Would the 1100 be enough for flow? It's about 300 gph. There will be about 3-4 feet of head pressure, but I used an Eheim 1250 (similar flow) on my 30 gallon Oceanic with more head pressure and it was plenty.

Thanks in advance!

it will not be enough for pressure but it will bring back the water from the sump to the DT. u will need 2 PH. if u go with the 1800 ull be alright. i got a 1200gph on a 75 and all i use is 1 power head, with no problem. if u get the 1800 u can T off the return and point them in what ever direction u want and there will be no need for power heads. i have mine with no issue

I personally would rather go with a Mag-3; my experience is that they're quieter than even the smallest maxijets. With better build quality, though you may want to replace the bolts with nylon ones. (That's a few bucks and you can ignore that for several months.)

also, how do these compare to the mag drive pumps? I can get a Mag Drive 5 for the same as the 1800.

(Also am running a Mag Drive 7 on my current setup but it would be too much flow (and too many watts) for the 45 cube)

Thanks

We have started no longer using the magdrives as return pumps - these have suction pumps on the bottom, are basically completely quiet and people aren't using them as readily as return pumps because they don't know any better and they are pricey. Ask Daisy here on MR how she feels about it.

The build of this pump is superior to Maxijets and the wattage usage is minimal. - I am about to do a 90g installation with a 4500.
