ok so with my new 125g i wanna do a 6 bulb setup.. what wattage should i be in to get optimal lighting for all types of corals.. and what legnth bulbs? the tank is 24 deep 6ft long and 18 wide..

thats a 4 foot fixture and will leave ends without much light, also depends how you do your rock work

i can get the 4fters retro kits cheap.. is there anything i can do like buy 2fters and offset them? is it even possible.. im new to the t5s i always ran halides but need to reduce the heat level on this new setup

The general rule for T5s is 'as long as you can go and as many as you can cram under the hood with reflectors.' You can illuminate this reef pretty well so long as you pay attention to the rockscape and the limited light at the sides with a set (as many as you can cram under the hood) of 4-foot t5s, particularly if you offset-stagger them, or you can go for absolutely-full coverage and get two sets of three-foot lights under there.

well the hood i made.. its open back to mount all balasts outside the hood in open air and the tank is 18in wide.. how many do u think i can fit?

i going to be using an 8 bulb on my 90 with sps.. so i think you should go 8 bulb on a 125

I use 6 X 80 watt bulbs with slr reflectors, ran on two icecap 660's on my 180 and am very happy with it.

6, most likely. Check the size on your reflectors and do some division.
