If you are asking for a free tank, then maybe you might try a differnt hobby. In this one, the tank is cheapest peice of equipment you will buy unless you get a custom build. A skimmer will probable cost twice as much as a new tank and stand combined. You will also need an RO unit and a sump. If you are serious and really want to do this take the above dude's offer. A tank and stand for $40.00 is hard to beat. It's the right size for a beginner and the equipment don't cost as much as some of the bigger tanks. Also ask around for great deals on equipment on here too. There are lots of people willing to help out. And read, read, read about it. You don't want to go and spend hundreds of dollars on fish and corals and have them all die.

I think that you should probably research more on the hobby before you jump right in. We are having a swap in April which may help you to gather more information as well. But if you do not even know what a frag is I would wait to get a tank setup.

Looking for a free tank...
Interesting introduction. Welcome to MR. It's a great site to learn from, but it would be worth your while to do some research otherwise before getting your feet wet. There are a number of basic decisions to make such as what type of tank (fowlr, reef, mixed, etc), the type of fish/coral you'd like to keep, how much you can afford to spend (and this will determine everything else). Check out the equipment in the categories "must have", "should have", "nice to have". I started off with a freshwater tank, then did some more research and got intrigued by saltwater.

Then came the real research, scouring the internet for info on saltwater tanks and livestock, picking the brains of friends who were already in the hobby and still when I started (and even now) I can't say that I know enough to successfully run a sw tank. There are sites that give you general guidelines about starting and maintaining an aquarium but there's so much information out there that it would benefit you to first have an idea of what you want to have at the end of the day. If you don't you may end up spending more than you intend (which will probably happen anyway) on equipment changes. Believe me, mistakes (or even a mind change) are expensive!!

Also consider that the animals you eventually get are pets too. I don't know about others but I get emotionally attached to mine and get very disturbed when they're not doing well.

Best of luck to you.

A frag is usually a small cut of a piece of coral.

But seriously your thread title is you want a free tank. And they are all trying to give you good advice here. You shouldn't just go onto a site and demand a free tank with your first post.
