A frag is usually a small cut of a piece of coral.

But seriously your thread title is you want a free tank. And they are all trying to give you good advice here. You shouldn't just go onto a site and demand a free tank with your first post.

Thank you for answer my question it helped I was ver lost in the convo ...lol

the reason ppl went off telling you to research is because if you dont, you will be on here asking "how do i......., and we will tell you read... FYI if not to knock skimmerman1000 sale, but a 10 gallon is harder to take care of than a 37. Less water, easier for parameters(which means water conditions) to fluctuate

Well I did my research and I also have a friend that works in petland so I should be good to go once I get a tank

Petland discounts sucks, most of the time its a kid in high school who has a cichlid tank and thinks he conquered the world. if you start a petland discounts thread, u will see exactly what i mean, but if you already have your mind set to what u wanna do, nothing we say is gonna stop you.

Petland discounts on Ave U in bk is not that bad. That's where I got my start in fw. They do have a high turnover of student helpers, but there are three or four older folks there who give pretty good advice imo. They sell very few sw equipment as they are definitely a fw store with a few brackish water fish. Once I saw the guy at the cashier's station practically take fish back from a woman who was about to walk through the door telling her that from the description of her tank she couldn't keep those fish. The manager hooked me up with material on the local fw club.

Threads are not to be bumped more than once in a 24 hour period.
If the OP bumps in that range again, I will delete the thread.

It is considered courteous to allow others threads to be at the top of the list and not to monopolize the space.

:google::bump::smash:LOL UR GONNA LOOK BACK AT THIS FIRST POST U EVER MADE AND UR GONNA SAY "HOW DUMB WAS I" AND UR GONNA REALIZE THAT WITH A CLOSED MIND U GET NOWHERE. THESE PEOPLE ARE ONLY TRYING TO HELP! COME TO THE FRAG SWAP TO LEARN A LITTLE. IF UR LOOKIING FOR A HUGE TANK FOR FREE OR A NICE DIMENTION TANK U WILL NOT GET IT FOR FREE. THE ONLY THING U WILL RUN INTO FOR FREE IS A 10 OR 55 GALLON, CUZ THERE IS NO ROOM TO BUILD A NICE REEF IN THEM. PETLAND IS THE WRONG PLACE TO LOOK FOR ADVICE

wow his guy has ALOT to learn..I basically agree with everything that was said..if you are asking for a free tank that is like 5% of what you need and probably the cheapest thing except for supplements/chemicals. For a relatively small tank if you get basement bargains type of deals on cheap used equipment you will still spend alot. The key is don't buy garbage equipment in the beginning you have to spend money to buy quality products to run your tank efficiently oherwise you will only be buying better stuff after you have already bought crap and it's just a big waste. PETLAND of all places in the world is probably the worst reference possible that you could make. They always have dead fish in all their tanks and only about 2% of them carry saltwater and it's because of the fact that highschool kids work here and don' know about saltwater (or even freshwater lol) for that fact and the stuff would just die and the stores were losing tons of $$. Go to a specialty store where the people know what they are talking about and have a conversation, educate yourself. Browse the forum here and look things up on google. Lastly don't take a comment of someone and believe it to be true all the time either because there are also people who are new to this trying to sound like they aren't and they give bad info but a majority of the people here are quite knowledgeable but always double check before making a move.

I'd just like to throw my two cents in and get on somewhat of a naturalist soapbox. The animals that are kept in the reef tanks arr not just 99 cent guppies or platys. Often times these fish are coming straight off of a reef somewhere and require very particular and exact environments to live in. That's the fun in the hobby IMO. I totally agree that these animals are pets. My kids and wife name them and are quite upset when they die or aren't doing well. I've been in the aquarium hobby for only 15 years with a majority of those years keeping reef tanks and I still have a ton of stuff to learn. By starting a new hobby thinking that it would be cool to have a tank bc u saw it in a magazine or whatever and ur buddy from a petlands of all places will help, u will fail in this hobby. Not only will u spend a lot of money but u will also take a lot of fish from there reef and they will either perish or barely survive. That's not what this hobby is about. U need to go back and read read read and use this site to learn before u even think about setting a tank of any size up.

how in the world did this thread go from I want a free fish tank to Petland sucks lol Hey no offense to you or indeed but if indeed is giving you advice then you better listen to him because he started as you clueless now i see he is starting to become a decent reefkeeper. in his first few posts the poor guy was getting bashed but he didnt give up and cry (not that i am saying u are crying) but if i were in indeeds shoes i wouldve felt the need to but the guy did his research and asks questions, SO take advice from these people on MR because they care about fish and believe it or not they want people to get into the hobby but they want to make sure that the people who are getting into the hobby are ready to handle saltwater

You must learn before you get into this hobby b/c it will cost you more $$ in the long run. You buy garbage equipment you end up with dead stuff and always wanting to know why your fish and coral are always dieing. Just listen to people here and if they come off the wrong way they just want to make sure you understand, We were all new to this hobby at one point and did not learn over night. If you cant afford it now just learn until you get some $$. Good luck and try not to come off rude we are all family here!!!
