Tell me about it!:irked:
Not really sure if it is different from when it was installed. It's the whole house.:( The house is built on sandy soil, (we are 3 blocks from the beach)and it is going on 100 years of age. I haven't found any cracks in the foundation. It's close to an inch off.:Yikes:
In order to shim the stand the tank has to be emptied.:screama:

Sorry clownlover! Didn't mean to take over your thread. Back to topic guys...

no awi its related..i spoke w a contractor and he said it would be ok. i am thinking of opening the ceiling and bracing it just to be sure. also ive changed the dimensions to 84 x 24 x30, or 96 x 24 x 30 so its significantly lighter

not sure if i agree with that.....if the tank bows, it would be the long panes which are the front and/or the back pane. if the side panes are only 23-24 inches, i don't see them being the vulnerable ones. if i'm not mistaken, isn't the reason for having the cross brace or the eurobrace is to prevent bowing?

that what i figured also but in speaking with the tank designer he said that tthe bowing of the front would distort he sides somwhat. and that bracing doesnt stop bowing 100%. i dont have any refence besides what he told me. as i said earlier i woule LOVE to go external. so for the most part you havent heard of externals breakin gor anything like that??

i don't know if it's the same idea but my skylight has a dome shape acrylic cover but it still gets buried under the snow. the last couple of snow storms block the skylight for may be two weeks?
how much are we talking about for the total cost of the solartubes installed? (and how many tubes would you need?)

well im having a hard time getting hard data on lighting area and info like that to tell me how many id need but figuring that im only keeping softies and lps im thinking of having 2 solatubes 14" and some supp actinics. maybe u guys could help me ill have to freshin up on my geometry but if it lights a 16x16 area when mounted in an 8ft ceiling what is the angle coming out of the tube???
i got a quote for about 2000 for the 2 tubes. the dome wasnt bad its that it has to go thru the second floor and i need all those exteniison tubes that killed me

honestly for 2 g's and no chance of leaky roof and cutting through the second floor...hoping it would not run into any important structure or pipes/wires, etc., i would rather go with conventional lighting. that's just me....i know that murphy guy who wrote the damned law all too well....lol.

i've seen only a couple of tanks with external over flows....so i don't really know if that would pose a problem long term. but at the same time, i have never heard of any incident of leaking/breaking external over flows either?!?!?!?
