Amphipods. Totally normal. Very few of them have a taste for human flesh. (That's more of an isopod thing.) A large population of amphipods is -great- for your tank and for any fish that eat them. :)

that's gross!!!!!! what fish eats them??? mandarins right? i always wanted one...

Mandarins seem to primarily depend on copepods, but they'll also eat baby amphipods, flatworms, and other things that crawl on rocks that they can fit in their little mouths. But if you've got a good amphipod population you've probably got a good copepod population, too.

Wrasses and many other fish eat these things like candy. I've even watched my clowns eat 'em. And, of course, corals eat 'em too.

Sixlines are great little fish but they're best added as the last fish to the tank, 'cause they have a rep for turning nasty towards new arrivals of just about any type once they settle in.

yea but the last one i put in there died. and the flame angel that was in there died too... weird... now i'm nervous i don't know if there's something wrong w/ the tank?

Yes, it does sound like you have a problem if you've lost 2 fish already :(

What can you tell us about your tank..
how long has it been set up
what size is it
what are all of your water parmaters (Ca/alk/mg), including temp/ph/sg
How often are you changing your water & what % do you change
Do you have a rodi unit

Anything you can tell us that might help us figure out what is going wrong would be helpful.
