V.S.V Method

Hi, my name is Marc, i'm 32 years old and i'm living in Normandy France.

If i'm here, it's because I have the same hobby than you ! we really have a great hobby !

Here in France, some of us are anxious in using that kind of method so
i 've decided to make an inquiry on your side.

Is it a spread method across the United State or not ? and what do you think about it ?

Personally , i've begun this method in my 120 gallons reef tanks because my nitrats were too high in my opinion. I found the reason, all my water changes were not as regular as they should be. After few days, my nitrates level has going down successfully.

But the second question i would ask you is : do the VSV method can work also on phosphate level in your opinion ?

Vodka Sugar Vinegar Method

Personally, I don't use it. I never had an issue or too high nutrients and my corals grow great. I tried using zeovit before, its too high maintenance.

Hi Marc welcome,
I personally have not started using either VSV or VGV but I'm reading and learning about it. I have a 220g and a separate 90 that i will start using for an Utra low nutrient system (ULNS)

From what i gather, the gist of it, is that dosing carbon elements increases phos & nitrates metabolizing bacteria along with efficient skimming improves a reef aquariums ability to export nutrients that are bad nutrients.

I have begun this VSV method one month ago in my 125 G and results are great. Of course i would prefer to do not use VSV in my tank but i hadn't the choice at this time.

Who know or use the Bacteria Reactor ?

i believe pure vodka dosing is more popular here in the states :beer: and yes carbon dosing does work to lower phosphates and nitrates

VSV = Vodka Sucrose Vinegar
VGV = Vodka Glucose Vinegar

What dosage formula are u using with the VSV?

The dosage i'm using 10 teaspoon of Vodka (the lowest price of course ), 5 teaspoon of vinegar and 1 sugar teaspoon. And in the Reef (120 Gal ) the dosage is 2ml per day, that means approximatly a half teaspoon. Hope you 'll understand my volume convertion
