Ati t5 lights?

i have a tek 8 bulb t5 light now looking around today on the web found all the really nice sps tanks are running a ati power light
SO WHY IS THE ATI SO GOOD? AND WHAT MAKES IT BETTER THEN A TEK FIXURE?

ATI gives more light output than the Tek fixtures.
I believe ATI uses better ballasts, reflectors, and a better cooling system.
Notice most of the best SPS use an excellent skimmer

Things that make you go hmmmmm, just kidding. Might be the bulbs, certain combinations of bulbs can make a tank look great, even rival the look of MH.

IME/IME the ATI is a worthwhile upgrade. Just curious why you wouldn't use the 8 bulb ATI if you use an 8 bulb fixture now???

The only problem with the Ati is the ballest if you go on other forums a lot of people are having problem with there ballest in the ATI and the ballest are very hard to get and find and hard to take out. The ati from doing some research is one cooling and the reflector are the only thing that make them better then the tek light but if you get 98% reflector and put them in your TEK light and install some fans you will put out the same par the ATI do . I have a DIY to install fan in the TEK light if you what to look into it.

You already gave a decent fixture I wouldn't bother unless you have extra money to burn and love the sleek sexy look of the powermodule.

Are you comparing a 4 feet fixture to a 5 feet fixture? Unless you need a 5 feet fixture, I would stick with what you have. I would say SunPower is probably better, but the increase is nominal and doesn't justify paying for another fixture.

i have an ati t-5 4 bulb it's a nice light but do not think you'll get your bang for the buck to change from your current tek set up.

+1 they actually run a correct ballast for the light as where most t5 fixtures dont, i will be switching to a ati 6 bulb from my tek 8 bulb shortly so i will give you a honest opinion on it cons and negitives.

I had them both. my coral grew much better with the ATI. Pound for pound you get what you pay for, if you want really good coral spend the extra to either mod your Tek or get the ATI fixture.

Now you just have to decide if you want the Sunpower or the Powermodule. If you want anything over 6 bulbs the PM is your only choice. Now the only difference between the two is two more fans and its a thicker metal.

well got the 6 bulb ati today ty pmoney and it is as bright as my 8 bulb tek was. i did have 2 80 cfm fans blowing across the tek fixture to keep it cool, but loving the ati and will soon be taking canopy off tank to show the sexy
