it's all up to the brand bullb ! i have used different 10k in a 6 months with 10 k colrals grew very fast, it also requires more calcium, dose two parts and you will see a growth!!!! i even used current brand 10k very white and bright must say! as not many people talk about it! careful as you go to 10k corals will get shocked ! good luck and let us know

Im thinking of going with 10k bulbs for my 250 mh fixture my bulbs are a year old atleast now
I'm gonna just cut back the lighting a few hrs then bring it back up over a week or two
Is the growth much better with the 10 k over 12 k

Lol matt thats my question.

@mqur; 10' is closer to sunlight so corals respond by growing faster, 20k are just blue making the colors pop.

@petraio, I dose enough to handle the demand, I was just curious if there was a big difference between 10 and 14

Ultimately there are a lot of factors involved, but generally speaking, corals will have more useable light for growth with 10k (or better still, 6500) bulbs.

A lot of people prefer the higher k bulbs due to color, but with some supplementation, you can achieve a nice color with good 10k bulbs.

I switched from 250 10k Reeflux to 12k Reeflux....got better growth because of the higher PAR with the 10s, but getting better color with the 12s. The 14s were too blue for me. If your going to switch to 10s from 14s slowly acclimate them.

so can i just shorten the day light and increase it over the course of the week? or put them on the sand and slowly bring them up.
