alge in overflow

:duh: Do you get algae build up in your overflow box??????? And if so what do you do about it????? Have no algae build up any where in tank but in my overflow! Any answers or ideas?

I made a cover for my over flow out of black plastic. Keeps the light out so no algae grows inside.

Or you can just pull it off every so often. But Imbarrie makes a great suggestion.

x2..thats what I did when I used a box overflow and the tubes I wrapped in black tape to keep them algae free also...

I bougt black aquarium background and cover it with super glue outside and inside both work great

I get algae at the top of my overflow boxes. I prefer this to it growing any where else in my tank. I prune it when it starts to restrict the flow of water. Way I see it is that it helps to export some of the nutrients.
