That didn't answer my question. Really looking to hear from someone that used it before...

If you go to the bottom of the link I provided, you will see what it requires to readily grow. good water movement and strong lighting. as a supplemental food, growth in a refugium will be fine, but it won't grow abundantly. It will start to fade away. this is in part because most people don't have the water flow nor the strong lighting needed in their refugium. when placed in a display tank most fish will nibble on it and eat it all.

From experience, I made the purchase from IPSF.com, My fish loved it but it did not grow in my refugium. You could however set up an algae only tank and give it a try, I could not do this and was not successful at its growth. on the other hand some of the red tang algae grew well. not quick but ok for a little treat then and now.

If you can get one of those viper pendants that attaches to the lip of the tank maybe you can get it to grow with out much expense. use a powerhead for flow. worth a try if your interested in a science project for food.

I pick up sea lettuce when I go fishing, and throw it in my refug. I use it to feed my rabbit fish and tang-- they goes crazy for it. I have a small refug, so I go through it faster than I can grow it, but whenever I fish I always save some.
