Closed loop or not?

I am wondering if it would be beneficial to add a CL to my 65 build I am working on? If I do it now is the time before I set it all in place and start filling it. I have a Triton 4 that will do return work for now with a 3/4 return line to a Y split Loc-Line. I also have 2 425 gph Koralias for water movement. If I did a CL what size pump would you guys recommend and would 2 3/4 returns for the loop be enough? Do I drill them low or high? Last question... Can I run the CL on just a pump/reactor or is a canister needed?

CL is usually just a pump, recirculating the water, no reactor/canister

Al,

So using it in conjunction with a Phosban or Carbon reactor wouldn't be such a good idea? Just a straight pump loop huh?

you can do it, but the CL is for flow, adding a filter may restrict the flow.
Don't forget, you'll need ball valves to stop the flow, whenever you need to clean/replace media in reactors, and pump maint.

Thanks Al, I think I'll keep it simple. Any thoughts as to what size pump would be good? I was thinking around 500-700 gph.
