I dont want to spend $100+ on one right now and thought maybe someone has a diy or even a place to get a cheap one. I have the large one and it cost me $60 and does not do the job i want it to. It just hurts to spend $100 on a magnet
any imput will help
thanks

So far I like it, only gripe is it doesn't float but for half the price of new can't complain. Tanks still to new for coraline but definitely has the grip to do it. Scratches....I don't think any cleaner will help there, may be better off sanding the scratch down first.

Jarrett... it's hard even with an acrylic scrapper to get the algae out of all those little scratches.....I sanded mine down first with a 2000 fine grit sandpaper. On the hard coraline I use a razor or sometimes even a sharpened piece of acrylic, they work alot better, using the right angle they won't scratch...just be careful.

ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT...I confess...I have used a razor blade, on occassion, on my acrylic tanks! BUT, what I did, to prevent (minimize) scratches was to 'round' off the 2 ends of the blade with my dremel, and also be VERY, VERY careful!
I really like the sharpened piece of acrylic the BEST!
For everyday use, the Kent Marine plastic blade works fine...when it gets dull, I 'plane' it flat/sharp with the plane from my 'Exacto' set

yeah i use the kent marine blade for the scratches and works great but it is to much work and time so thats why i wanted a magnet to be quick and even my mother in law likes to do it. just have to teach her to stay away from sand bed,lol
