good or bad

I have alot of these in my sump they look like spider nest. I was wondering if they are good or bad.

I've been told they are pineapple sponges & as they are filter feeders, they are a good thing.

yip that be it. They arent bad, but can spread to main tank and be unattractive. Normally caused from too much food in the water.
