If it has a hard shell is it a chiton?

I found something on my chaeto. It has a foot/feet like a snail, and a small oval flatish shell, but the body is about twice as long as the shell. I have to upload some pics, but I think it is a chiton.

I guess my question is, are all chitons good? Does the shell plus the snail like body make it a chiton?

I have a bunch of them in my tank and a ton of zoos. They never bother them and they are great algae eaters. No worries!
