Any ideas on what this is??

Hi all,
this started growing on a piece of rock in my nano cube...this pic was taken with the lights out, and apparently the legs/arms extend in the dark...when the light is on, the leg/arms are short and round..there are two areas growing a reddish color and one area growing a greenish/brown color. Thanks!

Likely aiptasia, that should be killed. Can you get a pic that shows the center of it?
You might want to attend to the cyano issue in the tank.

yeap, that is aiptasia, get some peppermint shrimps and like Kathy said get busy with that cyano issue, your nitrate and phosphate must be booming.

YIKES!!! I googled majano and that's exactly what it looks like!!...rock taken out ASAP...here I was thinking I was getting a bonus 'something' growing...and the cyano is gone from the tank too...

If your tank is empty (of fish/coral), then I suggest that you look carefully for more, as there may be more, and if needed, you can easily add a filefish to eat them. Once you have other livestock it will not be so easy. This only applies if your tank is big enough for a filefish.
