I want to know the lighting requirements as I would like it to grow and spread as rapidly as possible. My polyps in general have little success...any suggestions? Also attached is a pic of my tank!
It looks like green star polyps too me. They are a fairly hardy coral that require low to medium light and the same with flow. They should grow quickly if your husbandry is decent.
looks more like brown star polyps but the same thing just diff color variation. Very hardy easy coral..considered a beginner..more or less just leave it alone and let it grow it has a low light requirement. The spot it's in should be fine.
The tank is about 6 years old so it is well established. The corals I have are mostly docile. The main problem is that I moved out of my parents place for school and they simply do not keep up with the tank. I do what I can when I come home. I think through their forgetfulness they have pretty much weeded out my expensive and less hardy corals. What you see in the second picture is what it left. Not sure about "reef husbandry". I assume u mean corals promoting the growth and health of eachother...so corals from the same areas?
I didn't lie... The tank is that old. It has been through many ups and downs. When I was away trace minerals and calcium were rarely added. Thus little purple algae and coral growth, not to mention my stepdad removing my live rock and scrubbing it... I'm surprised this tank is doing as well as it currently is.
SO u r saying its not a reef if it is neglected for a little while?? It's been a reef since I converted it over 6 years ago. So it is that old... This is a trivial argument anyways. Thanks for the id Fishman
