Does it actually matter what you call them? I understand that it is important and interesting to know the genus / species of corals, to know the difference between an Acan and a Blasto, but seriously folks - the Zoanthids are SO varied and beautiful. Who is anointed to name 'em anyway.

I say everyone should have a Zoa named for themselves!

I personally believe you can name them whatever you wish when selling them....even the higher end ones have different names at different vendors.....I also assume who ever introduces a different colored one not previously seen before and names it. That name is the one that usually sticks with said zoa

Names are BS! Corals are named so a higher price may be charged. With that said, there are names and it does help to adhere to them for identification purposes. Coralpedia.com aka zoaid.com has the "official" names of many zoanthids and palys.
Generally speaking, the first person to show a coral online ends up naming them... Or the first person to actually name them gets naming rights online. Nowadays, every store names corals...it has gotten totally out of hand!
