i have a new stain of red alage stringee.. this tank is 4 years old the rock the sump the hoses ect.. but the water new water is rodi water salt is at 124.00 everything is good ph is 8.0 8.1 i am waiting for my new tests... salifert i have api..... that is why i am changing... i have a 70 gallan bow with a 225 coralife protein skimmer cf lights with athinics 3 heaters 3 1200 maxi power heads and alot of love....why all the red alagee and i have alot of green alage from the last people that i bought the set up from... I love the hobby and i spent alot of money on it and want to make sure my investment is safe...I have had alot of help in the past and want to continue having all the help that i have thank you to everyone who helps people like me ErEERRRR!!!:lol_large

was the tank someone else's ? so i take it if so the tank was taken down and moved ? you will be having a cycle reguardless if so. do several larger water chnge's over next few week's and move waterflow around. you probably have dead spot's

I too started getting this stringy algae that floats in the middle of the water.. But only after I started using NSW form Great kills.. Only had 3 total floating algae.. It showed up in my sump...but I beefedup the float on the top of the water and haven't seen it in 2 weeks...

cyano is stringy a problem that im going through right now.there are a few helpful threads on this.my tank is only 6 months old so i have been expecting this,plus i had a problem wwith a lack of flow.so step up flow,syphon out the slime algae,water change.hope that helps.

Flow is the key to green hair, red slime also... And of course good water quality..Ive been there no more will I go through this...Thanks to my natureef denitifier Ha ha ha That's my commercial...tested and proven... Though it's starts off slow.. It gets there for the long run...
