I stopped at a store I go to when in central NJ tonight and the owner showed me some Red Gorgonias he got in. I asked if he would frag me an arm from one that had some bare spots for ten bucks, he cut me the largest one.

He was not sure exactly what it was, I think it was marked as just a Gorgonia.

I was wondering if anyone can Id this one, I have'nt found anything that looks like this one. It looks black under the actinics, but it is really red.

If this is any clue, even when cut, bagged, an hour ride home and 1/2hr temp acclimate, it never closed it's polyps.

My main concern, is it Photosynthetic or not?
