what kind of coral is this? its soft, but not like anemone soft. when it closes or lights are off it retracts back into a shell like a hammer coral or frogspawn completely. the larger one is around 3 1/2 inches. there are 3 now. what are they? and yes i know all the way to the side is apastasia.

I know where one is for sale, it looks identical to that and goes for about 100. I forget the name but it has been there for a few months now. I was thinking of getting it for the new tank. I will look at the name next time.

Something very similar to what you have appeared in my tank too. I think it must be a plate fungia. Weird to appear out of nothing! Pretty cool I must admit, much rather find these little gems rather than aptasia :)

Knugenx check out my thread here:

I THINK its on a frag that I bought from you last year? If you have the same thing it might explain where this little guy came from. I have that frag since march2010 and it only appeared about a month or so ago.

It could be. My colors are purple with alternating grayish green with green tentacles. Looks really nice in the lights. Looks as if yours has already formed a hard skeleton.

I think you are right with the plate, but the problem i see is I did not think they split into heads like that. It started with one. Within a month there was 3-4. And it mainly opens with just leds
