light brown sticks growing all over my lr

I know I have a lot going on in this pic but I'm referring to the light brown tubelike sticks. I can break them off but it probably won't help. I'm really hoping these aren't hydroids. I had some hydroids in my tank that were much darker and had bout a dozen fuzzy hairs sticking out the top of the tube. These have no hairs coming out of them. What are they?

Those are Vermitid(sp?) snails. They shoot webs out to catch stuff thats floating by. They hurt if you get stuck in the finger with one. I have a sh*tload in my tank and dont seem to bother anything.

hmmm. I have a vermetid snail on my frogspawn and it's much thicker in diameter. Plus I can see the antennae on the vermetid snail. However, I do at times see long stringy SINGLE strands coming from these sticks. I'll research more but I hope you're right. Don't feel like taking all my lr out and torching these things. I literally have hundreds of these sticks in my tank.

Thats the i.d I got thru other forums. I've had tons of these things for a while now and they havent bother anything. the thing I hate about them is after a water change, I turn all my pumps back on and they throw out these webs that cover everything. They usually retract and go away about 10 mins after they came out tho.

Yeah, looks like you're right. I'm guessing it's bc I can't rinse my frozen shrimp. Gonna look for some filter feeders to alleviate the vermetid growth and cap as many as I can with superglue.

Whenever my hand is in the tank i pop some off.
i got the same thing. vermetids.
I have thicker ones too.
For me the string seems to irritate my zoas, so I break the ones close to them.
