Are these things, First pic is a spiny sort of feather looking thing coming out of a sympodium frag i got this month, and second looks like some creature deposited eggs or something on the side of a rock and its covered in this slimy gel stuff.

Please help i have no clue what these are, thank you

When we find Pat's camera charger I'll try to post some better pictures. Those were taken from my blackberry so it was hard to capture the details.. Anyway, the sympodium is beginning to open again but only on the left half. Would it help if I circled the problems in the pictures?
