No this is a shrimp for sure just trying to figure out which one exactly. He only comes out at night. I only got the picture cause I saw his reflection in the glass hiding in the rock so I stuck my camera against the glass. He has a shrimp body and tail. Looks like a cleaner shrimp but has no stripe or anything. He mostly just eats off the rock and glass from what I have seen at night. But if any light hits him he takes off.
Looks more like a peppermint shrimp to me. Is the body clear with red lines? Again if you could possibly get it into a jar to take a picture of it, that would help (try setting up a little trap with a silverside or piece of shrimp, the crab and alleged shrimp will go right on in).
If it is a pep you're fine, actually kind of lucky. Good scavengers and many will eat aiptasia, plus they go for $7-$10 at LFS. Would you mind telling us where you got the piece that you think these hitch hikers are coming off of?
It looks a lot like a pep, but if it is a camel shrimp they sometimes like to nip at corals- their bodies are more whitish though. Doubt it's a cleaner, doesn't have the right markings.
I purchased a Lobophyllia Brain coral very large one from LFS. And along with this coral i got two hitchhikers the shrimp that I have shown above which im not to worried about. But I have another post here about a black crab. Pictures posted in that thread. Cant find him he only comes out at night. Thinking about pulling the lobo out to get to the crab.. He's all black with white joints not hairy...
a peppermint or blood shrimp..most likely peppermint either way it's fine and a good deal to get that as a hitchhiker lol like I mentioned in the other post def get rid of that crab though.
