Would forming lobby groups (and accepting membership and donations on a nationwide/worldwide level) helps to push for a standard in aquaculture standard, promoting grassroot education, setting standard for coral culture keeping techniques, and help setup a educational facility for coral and aquarium keeping? Every industry and organization has a lobby group behind it pushing the legislation thru. Does Mac answers our concern? or should there be a better representative organization for the hobbyists? One, coupled with donation accepting scheme, can organize lobby group to convey our messages to the proper channel.

Does MAC do a good job of this? The current feed from the rumor mill is that MAC doesn't want hobbyist input because we're too emotional or irrational in our opinions, and some the responses on the bulletin boards could be taken as prime evidence of that. If that is indeed the case, who will listen?

I have never talked to a reefer outside these boards thats ever heard of MAC. In fact I would wager to say that over 80% of the people on the reef boards have no idea what MAC does.

Chucker is right. MAC doesn't have the time or infrastructure to be able to properly hear and voice the concerns of the hobbyist. This isn't MACs role at all.

What danmhippo is suggesting should have been something that MASNA should have done. Hopefully, the next "North American Club", that forms as a result of the fallout from the bankrupt MASNA, can make it a mission to do this.
