I have a problem with Myrionema (stinging hydroids).(page 37 Julian Sprungs Invertebrates guide)I have to brush down my rocks and tank walls weekly for it is fast growing.I am looking for Pteraeolidia ianthina (page 98 Julian Sprungs Invertebrates guide), a nudibranch from the Solomon Islands. It is a control for stinging hydroids. I have looked in S. Fla. and on internet(Sea Dwelling Creatures tried) for this nudibranch and cannot find. Julian suggested contacting Mary Middlebrook in the hope that she might know how to get it. If you know where I can get some it could save my tank. Thanks, Kevin

I'll check the book and see what it is, then contact my Solomon's supplier to see if they can get it. Don't hold your breath, but I'll see what I can do for you.

Hmmm, hydroids aren't the plague in most people's tanks that aiptasia are, but many people have "some" level of problem. If this nudi works, it might be a viable item to carry regularly.

Thanks for looking in to it. My tank is so enjoyable to look at and I get good growth from everything. When they first started to appear I liked them ,they look good swaying in the current and grow like weeds. Then the hydroids started to cause havic with some corals and now I can't keep up. If anyone has this in their tank remove it at once. Mary,I'm holding my breath. ps: here is a picture of the pests 5 days after scrubbing clean.
