Hello People,
Especially Southerners. Especially Southern red necks of the "good ol boys" clubs. I ment but small offense to the good ol boys of the South and by claiming to not want to be one of them, I thought they would be pleased.
How bout a "cooks in the kitchen" analogy. Look at the board of directors, check out the members list and the sign
atorys to the letter of commitment to the MAC mission. Are we lacking in cooks? Similarly, are we lacking in recipes? The paperwork generated by selectively gleaning this and that from alledged "experts"[read peddlers] constitutes a recipe for cooking something up later on...granted.
My wife has a dozen recipe books and shes still a lousy cook! [Don't worry, she doesn't read this stuff!]
Forgive me for knowing the difference between buying a recipe book and achieving a good meal! So much about the recipe...discussion, debate, commitment to be certified, plans to eat well...but we're still at an empty table and there is scant odor coming from the kitchen!
The more you sit and wait, the more restless you may become. Soon the more upset. Excuse me! Are we going to eat sometime soon?
As a cook of long standing, I know good and well it does not take that long to make dinner! Whats going on in there!
Then we see Marivi storming out of the kitchen...extremely pissed off! I was really hoping to get her contributions because there are no other cooks in there that I can trust...to not fudge on the ingredients.
I'm not even sure if I can eat here anymore...unless she comes back! I admit, she a veggie cook and never served up any lead items to speak of but at least her food was free of pesticides, contaminates and too much grease and sugar.
Whats that...more rumbling in the kitchen! Whoops...there goes another one. The main chef is pissed off now and storming out the door. He's as angry as Marivi was and has vowed to never come back!
Which cooks of worth are left?
Hey! That guys the janitor, not a cook! Don't try and pass him off!
But geez. Wasn't it...isn't it... a good recipe book? After all it took so long to make it .!...
Still waiting out front to eat...if this doesn't change, I'm going to have to do something.
Where's the manager! We need to talk to the manager!
Hey! We can't eat the recipe book! We need some real food! Now get some new people in that kitchen and get the show on the road!
SUB-CONTRACT out to the caterers down the block ...They're in the phone book under C. ..
CORL is the name and kitchen work is the game...They're working class and at times a bit crass...but hey, they can cook. With or without the book!
Well ,its the last shopping day for me and if my wife finds out that I went into the shop to write this nonsense she'll be leaving me out in the rain.
Sincerely, Steve
CORL Caterers
PS.For those of you who missed the punchline...its simply that the worth of a recipe book ie. MAC standards, certification etc. is in the produce, the implementation and the actual food offered for sale!
Don't confuse recipe for reality. Recipes are a means to an end...not the end! If you don't get to the end...at some point, you starve and die.
