Greetings.

I am curious if anyone can point me in the direction of the persons who helped set up the coral farms that operated in the Solomon Islands.

I used to know the name(s) but cannot recall them now...

Thanks!
Mike Kirda
P.S. Anyone know if they are still operating?

I'm not sure but maybe the guy who makes K2R calcium reactors?

I vaguely remember see some photos of him & the Solomon islands (but I could be wrong)

Cheers,

Hi mike, I have a bunch of info on the Solomon farms. I actually have the video of the first workshop at Simon's ponds filmed by John Walsh.
I talked to Dave and Ray back in 1994 about doing coral farming there and John helped them in 1995. ICLARM did some work on the project also. I worked with the Nughu villagers there in 1999. Teaching in remote villages under a kerosene lamp light at night and in the ocean during the day :D

The farms are starting back up, with help from FSP contact Austin Bowden-Kerby at [email protected] for more info.

Naww, Bob Mankin was just a popular importer/retailer of the extremely popular solomon disk frags. Great guy!
