A new article will be coming out that is asking industry people how they feel about MAC. I'm certain MAC will be given the opportunity to respond in kind. I won't say who it is yet but I spoke with the reporter Friday. I actually took it very easy on MAC because I think they are trying harder these days. If MAC ever figures out they started on the wrong end I may actually support them. If they ever adopt a policy of being open and honest I know I would support them. MAC needs to listen to the advice of the industry people who want reform. The makeup of the MAC board appears biased against the industry. The following quote is from the about MAC page of their web site www.aquariumcouncil.org: "The MAC Board of Directors is representative of the global MAC multi-stake holder network. Statues require that conservation or public interest group representatives make up the Board majority."
That quote really explains a lot about where the 1%DOA/DAA came from and why Paul has been unable to show much of an ability to compromise. We want healthy fish and a better trade Paul, but it must be done in a manner that doesn't destroy our livelihoods. I think the trade needs more representation on the MAC Board.
