I would like to announce my voluntary resignation from the Moderator position of this forum. I have enjoyed my relatively short tenure, but now feel it is in everyone’s best interest that I step down. Glenn Gulley (Rover) has been an excellent co-moderator and he will continue in this position along with Leonard Ho (Len).

You should know that my involvement with the Marine Aquarium Council (MAC) as a board of director is a primary factor in this decision. My ability to freely defend this organization was often in need of check given the type of persona necessary to perform the proper duties of a Moderator. The code of behavior expected from a Moderator does not allow for engagement in heated exchanges nor the targeting of questionable statements and any particular individuals who may have made them. It has become apparent to me that by being a Moderator my ability to serve MAC is severely handicapped.

The Administrators have embraced my decision and agree that it is a good one. You can expect my frequent contributions and interactions here, and in most cases my demeanor will remain as it has been.

I thank you all for my time as Moderator and am greatly appreciative of the experience. Best wishes and good luck to Moderators Rover and Len.

Good move John,
It actually seems to be a conflict of interest to remain I think. Its much better to be free and unfettered, don't you think?
Perhaps moderators need to be more "moderate".

I hate to see that you are stepping down, but I certainly understand. It is very difficult to remain politically neutral in a forum full of partisans attacking projects you are working on.

During your short tenure as moderator many different people with new and distinctly different points of view felt free to voice their ideas and experience. I'd say that is an excellent legacy for any moderator.

Don't be so sad. I'm not going away and I won't stop helping Nemos and Dorys and those who would sell them.

The only big difference is now I can't split threads, edit postings (I can't take out anyone's 85372*s anymore), make stickies or move stuff. But I can tear into people without guilt now :wink:

Your involvement as a representative of reefers and moderating an industry forum was difficult from the word go. ie the whole Nemo issue.
Hopefully you can now put the reefing community's interest ahead of any others.
