With great regrets to the marine hobbyist, and the one part time worker who will no longer have a job, I announce the closing of CORL-USA's office set for sometime in the next two - three weeks. I explained in an earlier post that if no funding for CORL's USA office was found that I would have to close it down and put the hobbyist orientated programs on the shelf for a while. It's finally happening, I have been keeping things going there by covering the cost out of my pocket but I can no longer live off the 200.00 / month that's left after the CORL-USA bills are paid. Seeing that currently 98%+ of our funding is from governmental grants (all of which must be applied to the project it was given for) I can't justify or afford to keep the USA branch of CORL going. CORL's main focus is the sustainable use of coral reef organisms for the benefit of those who depend directly upon those resources. CORL-USA was based upon helping inform the hobbyist in ways to reduce the mortality at their end.
CORL's international office might be moved down here (there's some problems created because American Samoa is an unorganized territory) If that's not possible I will be running CORL through a post office box in the States.
Sorry all, many promised to help but not one came through.

CORL AS is getting going and seeing that I will no longer be sending my paycheck back to the states to support CORL-USA things will now speed up here.
