The net fundraiser is a joint effort between Marine Specialties International and Reef Central. Since Mike failed to point out the link to the fund, I'll post it here:

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthrea ... did=191770

Mike did not contact RC and myself prior to deciding he would accept donations for the project. We do not endorse what Mike is doing. But if people would rather contribute through him so they can receive the deduction, then so be it. However, we can not guarantee where funds will go or how they will be used unless they are sent directly to the original funding site at http://www.fundafriend.com/needs5.asp?id=65

Are you going to post a list of donors. I think it would be great to see the people who contributed up in pixels :)

It's official! We've met and surpassed our goal as of today! Thank you all so much for your support and concern about this project. Make sure you check out http://www.reefsource.com/netting_material_fund.htm to track the project.

To answer Bill's question. I tried to cut and paste the list of individual donors from the Fund A Friend site into reefsource today just to see if it would work. Unfortunately it will only come up as a table showing the amount each person donated, and that is not information I feel is necessary. Also, each name automatically linked to the donators email- something that I would never allow. So the only option would be for me to personally type in a list of over 50 names, and since you're the only one who wants the info and I don't know if the donors would even want their names listed publicly, you're outta luck! But next time you come over I'll show you the list if you want.

John,

I have received MASNA's donation already. If CMAS has not sent in their donation yet, can they please hold off until we start the Indonesian fund? We are already over our goal by at least $400 and I don't want a bunch of extra money laying around.

Ferdinand is finally back from the field.
(Mary and I have been trying to get ahold of him for the past week...)

He has a couple of decisions to make in terms of how much netting he needs in two different mesh sizes. Once we know this, the netting will be ordered and picked up.

The shipping method: Truck from manufacturer to Chicago warehouse, then onto a container to the west coast. Will be packed further, then shipped by boat to Manila. Will take roughly 30 days from Chicago to Manila.

We may be able to squeeze enough to supply both the Philippines and Indonesia out of these donations.

Regards.

John,

Because we think we might be able to have enough for the Indonesian fund as well, could CMAS go ahead and send their contribution? If we can get it all done at once, I'm all for that! And with the extra funds that have been coming in I think we can. Please thank the Chicago club for me, and if you give me a link to their banner I'll put it up on the sponsor page.

We went enough over our original goal for the Philippines that with just a little more money we will be able to provide a large amount of netting to Indonesia as well. This will be a huge necessity as trainings will be starting there soon. Since freight is such a huge cost, it makes sense for us to try to ship as much netting as possible all at once. Based on our calculations, we need approximately $500 more. So please go to http://www.fundafriend.com/needs5.asp?id=65 and help us reach our new goal! We hope to be ordering the nets within 2-3 weeks. You can track the progress of the net project at http://www.reefsource.com/netting_material_fund.htm

Thanks,
Mary Middlebrook

One of the reasons why we can do this is because we are buying entire rolls of netting. This reduces the cost by close to 20%.

Shipping to Indonesia directly is more costly, plus we needed to procure a storage facility, raising the cost even more. In talking it over with Ferdinand, we realized that it would be best if he brought over netting as needed in his luggage as a box can hold several hundred feet of mesh, which is enough for a few dozen collectors.

So we decided to increase the amount of netting we would ship over, realizing we could save on the shipping and storage, lowering cost overall, and providing ample amounts of netting for both locations.

Trust this is transparent enough.

OK Mary, will do. Thank you.

CMAS doesn't have a banner online anymore. Our new webmaster sand-blasted it off.

Mike Kirda can you turn CMAS's logo letterhead into a .jpeg file to use as a banner?

The two rolls of netting are being picked up this afternoon.

Shipment will be made on the OOCL Hong Kong Voyage 70
leaving LA on July 2nd, arriving Manila on July 18th or so.

Netting should be available in the warehouse on or around July 22nd or 23rd.

I had hoped to take pictures of the netting as it came through Chicago, but I understand that the shipping co. changed the routing to be from Minneapolis directly. So no luck there.

Regards.
