It is sad that the reform movement can`t agree. For a newbie, industry or otherwise it is a place to avoid. The opponents to reform laugh. We eat our young.

So I propose we divide us up into reform issues that we are most interested in.
For starters how about education, (industry and the hobbyist), the CDT, and training. Maybe later the USL and other.
Each group concentrates their efforts in achieving whatever goal their group determines. Example of goals, raising x dollars for nets by x date.
assisting in raising x dollars for training by x date. Seeing the implementation of a random CDT by x date etcetera.
Any takers?

We don't agree?

I think we all agree on the ends, we don't all agree on the means. I don't see a reason to divide the group - remember the old song, "United we stand, divided we fall...."

Just because we all don't hold a Utopian view of MAC doesn't mean we don't all want the same thing. In fact, I think that because there are different people who would like to take on different aspects of the industry, we COULD complement each other.

I am really happy to read that MAC is pushing the Cyanide Detection Testing (CDT) programme as a priority just like they promised.

Except from David from MAC's recent post
Re CDT Plan Implementation

"MAC's CDT implementation plan requires interaction with other organizations outside of MAC. As with any plan there are developments that prevent it from being implemented on exactly the timeline that was proposed. We are a bit behind at the moment on the current step as BFAR and Merck requested that we postpone the start of the program until the last week in June 2003. Implementation of workable and reliable CDT systems is a very high priority for MAC. "

Finally reefers and reputable industry can buy fish knowing that the source in the Philippines in subject to the CDT audit :D :D :D

Um..I hate to be the one who poops in your Cheerios, but you do understand that this CDT is not in place yet, yes? When it's a done deal, when proper implimentation is in place, then we can all have a round. I'll even be the designated driver!

Yes, I am aware and believe it will happen.
And when it does happen, MAC needs postive input from industry people like you to soften the bumps in its implementation and enforcement. :D
