Damn shame no one wants to post the supposed 'smoking gun' memo so we can make up our own minds about it. About half of you seem to already have it and at least two people here have been giving us paraphase sections from it. One of those people asserts that there are conflict of interest issues and the other asserts there are not conflict of interest issues.

Seems that most of you green people have closets full of skelitons, lots of secret email discussions and excellent verbal skills at running people down.

That is an interesting observation and probably not far from the truth.
There is a very vocal group here intent on destroying any semblance of unity on reform issues and their modus operandi is to attempt destroy the character and integrity of those who disagree with them.
Thank God, nobody believes them or even listens to them.

All right mayhaps shoulda said a few of ya...or a couple...probably shouldn't have said that at all. That better? Just read some wetweb media link stuff that was posted in an old topic here and felt kinda grossed out at all the nastyness.

I'm not accusing Mike or Mary of anything.

I think we could clear this whole 'smoking gun' thing up if Jaime forwarded the email to everyone that was in the original distribution. Then maybe misunderstandings could be cleared up by all parties and we could go back to free love for all. Shoudn't ought to be any betrayal of trust if the email is only sent to the people that were intended by the original sender.

XOXOXOXOXO,
Don

Which is exactly what I've been calling for for over a week. Jaime promised to send it to me on Saturday. It's now Monday and still no email from Jaime. Hey Jaime, once again- [email protected]

Thanks for the clarification, Sardonic. I don't appreciate being falsely accused.

SW,
I found the above post to be rather amazing. You won't even use a real name or let people know who you are, but you think they should share private e-mails with you so you can make up your own mind. You then go on the attack and do the very thing you criticize others for doing. BTW I haven't seen the e-mail in question and I don't really know who Imperial is. I have never met Ferdie either.

Mitch,
The 'smoking gun' tapes belong with the equally false and final 'threat thread.' [ They're after me and I'm calling Dudley Do-Right! Remember that one?]
Click on 'ALIEN ABDUCTION" or AREA 51 or Loch Ness Monster.
Much ado about very little and kept secret for simple LACK OF EXISTANCE.
Steve
PS. To the Royal Canadian Police...
With all due respect...that was a joke.

Ok, Ferdie was back in Manila for a day. He read the relevant threads at my direction and his comment was: People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

He has already headed back into the field and will be back soon. I'm not sure if he has made a decision on whether or not he will post anything here. I suspect that he will give it some thought while driving to the field and back. I had to forward him the e-mails in question as he has lost them due to a computer crash earlier this summer.

So, Sardonic, you may get to see them after all.

Regards.

Guys,
You are describing any political campaign in the country right now.
Granted many reefies don't get out much but we have a thing called Democracy and it does get heated...most of the time.
Here in California, a rich guy paid a fortune to recall the governor, then resigned from running himself while crying on camera,
the governor is accused of being an idiot and a 'sell-out to the energy consortiums',
they're going after candidate Arnolds girl chasing , pot smoking days of youth and accusing him of gang rape,
Chicano Candidate Bustamonte is accused of being a radical, racist from his college days...and then the issues really sharpen.
Much is on the line for these folks and for California. Should they all be civil and 'chat nicely'? When does that happen in the selection of leaders for our Democracy?
The deeper your involvement in something, the more passion it elicits...the shallower you regard something, the easier is is to just pop-in, wag a finger and tell everyone to behave.
The educated elite that seeks to run our country clearly could not live up to the standards of civility being suggested...and often. Thats why we have moderators on these forums and at the AMDA Roundtable Town Hall Discussion @ MACNA.
I have been to the general fishkeeping forums and seen dozens of threads where they fight and often bitterly over the smallest of matters. We have been witness to serious donnybrooks between the trades own 'leading characters' over filtration and supplementation! The 'salt wars' are an epic part of our history now and define us as a tribe that will become animated and agressive over seemingly minute things that others can hardly see as contentious.
The coral reefs survival and the hobbys sustainability I submit
are worth the pain it takes to forge policy over. If you don't care enough to fight for this, what do you care enough about?
Be proud of your heart and passion for things greater than yourself...and stand for something people!
Just be sure to break when the moderator says break.
Thats fair isn't it? Surely we don't want a world where people care so little about everything that they are ambivalent and don't care enough to try and make a difference.
Stand up and speak your mind! And don't worry if you get as good as you dish out . Its how Democracy works.
Steve
PS This is a public forum on the Industry behind the Hobby and its understandably not for everyone.

Heh, Gresh sure has THAT one right! :P

I'm not giving up any names, but someone misspelled Bob F.'s book title from The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" to "The Contentious Marine Aquarist", and I told him I thought it was time he took up humorous book writing. So... APT.

Gee wilikers,
I stopped importing from Imperial in May because Ferdie DID NOT get involved!
I wanted him to be there, help screen the fish, take more of an active interest and insure I finally got some blue tangs.
Alas, it was not to be...

Steve,

So did you stop importing from Imperial primarily due to a lack of consistant quality or due to a lack of highly salable, expensive inventory?

Thanks,
Lee

Lee,
Both. The mortalties were too high and the species mix not good enough. [Yes the fish were netcaught but as any importer already knows, thats just the start of the process.] Are there many other criterias?
Steve
ps. We have a BOD meeting tonite. There will be news on the Net Fund tomorrow.

Steve,

I'm curious whether inventory or handling issues will be the biggest problem for the new net-caught groups. If inventory will be the limiting factor for net-caught success: is the AMDA training project going to concentrate on areas that have the most lucrative fish in relative abundance? If it is handling issues: how is AMDA going to address this?
Just something for you folks to discuss at your meeting, if it hasn't been fully discussed. It seems to me that the long term success of training efforts hinge on the salability of their fruits.
