Hopefully, he will elaborate on what his thoughts are on why this is a problem as well as on possible solutions to the problem.

But why not also have others here take a gander and describe from their different perspectives [ personal or professional: as hobbyists, gourmets, divers, ecologists; as importers, retailers, biologists, conservationists, etc. etc. ] what possible solutions WE , in the hobby as well as in the industry may come up with collectively? I.e. "The right way to go".

The year 2004 is still young, perhaps WE can make it count, as in:
"all the fishes in the deep blue sea...
joy to you and me..."

Looks like we have two fewer votes on poll-I than on poll-II ...

I had intended one to describe the perception about
"catching with cyanide" which does not only
produce cyanide-polluted-fish into the trade,
but also harms the habitat, and likely produces
early "victims" along the way, as well as the lingering effects...
i.e. the cyanide "on the reef" problem situation ...


the other as
"caught with cyanide" and ending up as cyanide-polluted-fish
i.e. the problem for "in the tank"...

Not just a selected segment of the "industry"...
a "selected" of the hobby too...

I'm primarily interested iin seeing what actually "lives" on this forum...
Often we see posts from folks whose point of view gets expressed
over and over...

On these issues, it would be interesting to take a poll HERE...

Are we speaking of the pet industry and its twelve million imported fish for the trade ....or the 500,000 tonnes of food fish that are collected from these same islands ? Or BOTH?
