Hmmm well the Petitioner's website is nonexistant.. there is no petaa.com - just a search page with annoying popups.

Interesting little factoids about PETA - but I wonder how seriously anybody takes those petitions?

I belong to the "other" PETA...

People Enjoying Tasty Animals :)

PETA has only done one beneficial thing here in Lubbock, the rest is whining non-scientific crap.

This incredibly hot girl from Texas Tech, a staunch PETA member, decided to protest some of our outback folk who keep tigers as pets down here in Texas. She ordered a 5x5 foot tiger cage and had it dropped off on the courthouse lawn at about 3:30 am one morning. Getting ready for her 'civil disobedience act' required a lot of orange, red and black paint.

The next morning at 7 am, the attorneys and judges conducting daily business here arrived to quite a scene; a completely hot blonde naked woman was padlocked inside the cage, painted like a tiger and snarling as all get out. Free them! Free them! I kid you not. It was on the 6 o clock news and she was blurred out in the in the appropriate places.

It was fun to oblige her on her need for attention, pure eye candy she was.

I have a friend who used to work for a daytime drama (soap opera) in LA. She told me that once one of the leading men on the show, received a pair of lobsters as a gift from a fan - live lobsters, meant to be consumed for the man and his wife's supper.

The man did not want them, wasn't sure what to do with them - a female co-star and rabid PETA member, asked if she could have them. She actually paid to have them shipped back to Maine to have them released. One died in transit. What a waste of money.

I wonder how many hungry cats or dogs or PEOPLE could have been fed with the money this silly woman wasted on sending seafood back to the sea?

:::::shakes head:::::

Jenn,
Selecting what to be anthropomorphic about and selecting what to be environmental about is often an indicator of self esteem and insecurity issues more than about nature, I'm afraid..
I sent a popular marinelife dealer a cartoon photo of NEMO all dressed out in sushi segments on a plate. He rushed to delete it as his wife would've gone thru the roof [and deleted me as a supplier,] had she seen it!
People, even nice people seem to use eco and animal issues a lot to distinguish themselves from others by these professions and sideshows of 'higher morality'. Its a way of serving the self really...and distinguishing the self from the lowly ones that 'handle animals for a living'.
If our heros here really cared enough to become involved and actually 'work' in a cause, they might learn that effite, snobbish behaviours don't really do much. ..
Its harder to remain a loon when you really work at, work with others and make real contributions for your beliefs.
Working with others, getting out more and engaging in challenging discussions w/ others who care can diminish ones elitism really fast.
Sincerely, Steve
PS. FED EXing lobsters back to main indeed. Theres DHL service to Manila now. Don't tell her about the cyanide fish problem!

Aww, poor Peta,
Its just that the lack of ability to associate in a healthy way with humans brings into play the replacement animal fixations. It takes a fair amount of self loathing to boil to the surface to then misplace the agression and commit violent acts in the name of defenseless, nonviolent animals.
Actually, if the emotion were more genuine and grounded in a love for nature and its ecosystems...one could sympathize more.
The fact that its more to do with aberrant human psychology though is deflating...as allies of passion are good to have. We need people who care, just not these whack-jobs who don't.
PETA people, get a life, then a wife and then grow a garden for starters. Then come back here for your next lesson.
Steve
