for an importer of tropical marine fish to become certified by the MAC?

:?: A) I understand that there is NO requirement to ONLY trade in MAC certified fish.

So are there minimum {threshold} ratios? In other words , must say 10% of the fish-volume traded be certified by MAC?

:?: B) How often are inspections done? Is the frequency or the number of inspections a function of the volume traded by the importer?

So is there a minimum {threshold} number of inspections?

:?: C) What are requirements at renewal time?

:?: D) What are the typical co$t$ for importer certification in North America?

Are there any people on this forum, who are importers, or work for an importer and who have answers here?

PLEASE do not advise me to write to the MAC... Already done...

Even if I should miraculously receive an answer from the MAC this next week,
I am still interested in what members here might be able to tell me.

Thanx in advance!

Not a lot. Read the standards. You gotta keep the water heated to a reasonable temperature, and keep the fish alive. That's about it, other than the paperwork requirements.

Then you pay, get an auditor to come in and certify your store meets the published standards, and you are certified.

As I keep advising people to do - READ THE STANDARDS.
It's all in there.
