Mostly addressed to Peter...

Wanted this thread split from Kalk's, but didn't happen...

So... Am starting a new one.

Someone insinuated that Lolita Ty was part of the cyanide cartel.
I asked Peter if there were any positive test results from Lolita's place.
Yes or no.
No response.
Lee asked a pointed question- What about Marivi's place then?

Response was deleted.

So, I'd like to change my question, Peter.

Does that database allow you to extract where the sample was taken?
i.e. Fisherman vs. exporter vs. airport vs. village

If so, can you give us an idea what percentage of MO fish samples were taken from exporters vs. the others?

This doesn't single out Lolita or Marivi, but does tell us if the exporters as a whole were sampled and how much they were sampled...

Regards.

Marivi is a fairly new exporter. Was she even around when the CDT testing was being conducted?

Concerning publishing results, guess who stated that they WOULD publish them?? MAC. Of course, that along with everything else they ever promise to do has never come to fruition.

Mary, Marivi's company was around in 2000 and 2001 while IMA's monitoring and CDT for BFAR was being conducted. She posted on her web site (still posting?) for Aquarium Habitat that she was MAC Certified and that CDT was being conducted by IMA (true at the time). IMA's CDT contract expired at the end of September 2001. I believe IMA continued to do some testing (not sure where samples were from) up to December of 2001. I still need to analyze the entire database. When I get the time to work on the database, I will answer the questions being posted.

Marivi was around,
I got lots of CDT certificates hanging on the wall and more filed away.
I'm going to remove them and hang up some coral and zooanthid posters since thats all customers want to see on a wall these days.
Rarely did a CDT certificate hold a retailers interest for more than 12 seconds and more rarely was there a question.
The number one question is always..."whats on sale?" Followed by "Wheres the price list?"
I'll bet if I were certified [ as opposed to authentic, netcaught and source verified] I could make em stop and read for another 15 seconds before asking for the specials page.
At best we pitch to the 5% who care long enough to break the 15 second barrier. Why do you all think some reformers are attracted to RDO? Because in each of our areas we are lucky to find one or to who care enough to get thru a reform rap or brochure. On RDO we find 9 or 10!

[Certified Handcaught Marine was actually my companys name in 1980-84!] Checks actually were written out to 'Certified Handcaught Marine "every time we had a sale. The name didn't roll off the tongue though and customers didn't like to write that much to cut a check...so we dropped it.]

Mary,

Back then, IMA and MAC were buddy-buddy too.
I don't think in the current climate of personalities that those results will ever be published under a MAC banner.

Maybe the IMA will release them soon.

Regards.

Um, no they weren't, Mike. This was last June that they stated this. MAC and IMA haven't been buddy buddy for a heck of a lot longer than 1 year. It was at the same time that MAC promised and even set a deadline for implementing a CDT. They stated that they would publish the results. Of course, it's impossible to publish results for something you lie about implementing....
