Dumb? (or is it)? Question

I'm a newbie on this forum and I've been reading every post I have time for. I've notice there are many that are just plain impossible to get through. Over and over again as I read through I find a topic of great interest and importance, I'll start reading and two pages later......it's deteriorated into nothing more than schoolyard bickering.

There are obviously some very talented people and some very serious issues being addressed here but it seems to defeat the purpose and quite honestly dilutes the fabric and the intent of any given thread when they each turn to personal attacks and name calling.

Is it just a trend or do the vast majority of threads here always get de-railed into a flame fest?

Seriously though..

It certainly takes a particular type of personality to survive (thrive?) here, no doubt about that. - The beauty behind it though is that RDO is MUCH more lenient than other places in allowing the course of discussion to flow without the admins/mods stamping their feet down too often and stifling issues just because theres some "grit" in the grease.. (Though they do have their moments - like all of us - too...)

Ever watch Elimidate? Endure office politics? Witness the fireworks over reef supplement salesman? Warring seahorse breeders, Salt wars?
My but they go at it for so much less.
I think some anyway has to do with how much of ones life they have invested in the trade. Less at stake...easier to take!

One needs to find a more peaceful venue [therapy] and relax.
