US Wholesalers that want to sell in Canada

Hi, i don't know if i'm making a mistake by posting this kind of "ad" here. As this board is the only one i know that contains an industry section, i take the chance to post here.

We are a B&M petshop located in Quebec,Canada. We are looking for new net caught fish only, clams and corals (sps, lps, soft, rare) suppliers.
We can order once a week. We are not necessarily looking for a wholesaler that carries all this products, but we are mainly looking for wholesalers that accept to sell/ship in Canada and carry quality products.

For those of you that own a retail store, it would be appreciated if you can send me by PM some references

Have you tried Canadian wholesalers? I highly recommend SeaCare (www.seacare.org) and Coast Mountain Tropicals.

Actually it is Coast Mountain Aquatics. They are located in Vancouver and found at www.marinefish.ca

Fish purchased from Canadian wholesalers are a much better quality and can be purchased at a better price.

If thats truly the case, then why did the author of this thread even post it neasco? Oh, and why are we now getting queries from Canadians wanting our fish/coral, even though, according to you, we are of a lessor quality and a higher price? I see that Florida took the cup, guess the great white north lost to the sunshine state :lol: . BTW, do you buy fish from wholesalers? Do you see wholesale lists from Los Angeles? Do you know what it takes to export a shipment from the US to Canada?

It's not that much of a pain, just expensive due to the amount of paperwork involved in getting all the permits together.

I have about 4 customers in Canada that I ship to on a regular basis, company wide probably 15. For fish, all you need is Fish and Wildlife paperwork and a health certificate. Corals and Rock, add CITES onto the list + 3 weeks waiting to get the paperwork back.

Wait a minute -- they are collected from the same places as those sold by American wholesalers :?

Canadian fish are healthier because they have equal access to medical care. Even the lowly damsal has equal care to the prized angels.

Canadian fish are healthier because they are less stressful. They don't seek tribulations all over the world.

But most of all Canadian fish have healthier because they are happy. They live next to the the best neighbour, friend and family in the whole wide world.

Canadian fish are less stressed solely due to the fact that they dont have to spend much though or money worrying that any foreign fish will gobble them up . .......If the big protective fish living in the tank next door, the one that makes it possible for the Canadian fish to live out such care free days ... was to die or vanish .......how long do you think it would be before Russian fish would invade and take over their pond? :wink:

You are of course absolutely correct but that would mean that Canadian fish are not only healthy but smart, eh!
Maybe if American fish avoided the nets being thrown in front of them from time to time they too would be worry-free and healthier.
What's the point of being the big fish if you can't enjoy the sea
