Guaranteed Net Caught

Heaven forbid, the queen bee had to leave her throne today. Hubby was working on the new fish system, so I, of all people, was forced to do manual labor and take the shipments to LAX. <shudder> While sitting at Southwest with 4 other wholesalers (apparently 2pm is the hot drop off time for fish at Southwest!), I saw something that caught my eye. Boxes, marked in nice red letters "Guaranteed Net Caught". I didn't recognize the driver who was dropping them off, so I stole a peek at his airbill when we were at the counter. Believe me, it was the wholesaler LEAST likely to have net caught anything. How discouraging, yet enlightening. Made me think of what we've been touching on in here lately. Let's just put a pretty MAC sticker on every box, because if it SAYS it's net caught it must be, right??? Maybe I should go into the box making business. There could be a hot demand for boxes saying "MAC Certified" soon. :roll:

Well, not sure who you are referring to.. could be anyone. However, could they have simply been shipping back out in used boxes from a net caught supplier? Or could you tell they were new boxes/stickers?

I don't know of any exporters using boxes that say that...do you?

Was it imprinted directly on the box or was it a sticker? White or Brown box?

Wasn't my box, I have not jumped on that band wagon yet !!

I have a pretty good guess at whose brown box it was and if I am right then J.T. is half correct, they are reusing the box that was shipped to them but it did not come from a net caught source. It came from a suspect source but they instructed them to print the box to their specification. I could be wrong though, I have been before.
